2020 SHORT FILM JURY



Carly Palmour is a documentary producer and photographer whose most recent work includes the HBO original series McMillions, and the Netflix original series The Trials of Gabriel Fernandez. The last feature documentary she produced, The Devil We Know, details DuPont's decades-long cover-up of the harm caused by chemicals used to make popular Teflon products. She was previously part of the Atlas Films producing team responsible for Under The Gun, and Fed Up, all of which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Carly grew up in Birmingham, Alabama, and is now living in Los Angeles.

Christina Cigala is a writer and producer residing in California with her rescue dog, Monkey. She is an advocate for animal rights and "less waste" recycling practices. Christina acts as a mentor at "Write Girl," an LA based organization empowering girls' creativity. Working as a producer, Christina has created television programming for ABC, CBS, HIST, HGTV, Fox, Syfy, VH1, MTV, and TruTV, and has frequently collaborated with creatives such as Jared Leto and Gordon Ramsey. Christina has produced documentary and non-scripted content streaming on platforms including, but not limited to: Netflix, Hulu, HBO, Amazon, and Youtube. She recently produced the documentary, A Day in the Life of America, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2019. Christina has taught film intensives and guest lectured at Stanford University, Cal Arts, Columbia College, and the Actors Studio. Christina has an MFA in Playwriting from the Actors Studio Drama School in New York and a BA from Baylor University.

Doug Schoon is a research scientist, author, educator who is currently loving life in Dana Point, California.  He is internationally known for his 25 years of advocacy for improved safety of cosmetic products, better training for professional salon workers and sensible regulations. Doug lectures internationally on beauty/cosmetic safety and is often called on upon by dermatologists, reporters, scientists, and regulators alike for help with medical or environmental issues related to cosmetic, beauty and personal care products. He has written hundreds of articles, contributed chapters to dozens of educational texts and is the author of six books and many education videos. He obtained his Master of Science degree from the University of California-Irvine and is a life-long learner and longtime lover of the short film genre.
